Smog in Kyiv

Kyiv residents who monitor the city's air quality using special apps and websites have been complaining over the past week about excessive levels of air pollution in the capital. However, this increase is normal for the autumn period: the weather is dry and people burn grass and dead vegetation.

Director of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Mykola Kulbida noted at a briefing that the concern about air pollution that spread among Ukrainians the day before has no substantial grounds.

According to him, the network of hydrometeorological organizations continuously monitors air pollution by various ingredients, including carbon monoxide. In addition to carbon monoxide, some other indicators are also exceeded in the air. However, this is not dangerous.

The Kyiv authorities insist that there is no large-scale excess concentration of harmful substances in the capital's air. The smoke that Kyiv residents are seeing is thick morning fog. The situation in the capital will improve when the weather changes.
