The Defenders of Azovstal
The Ukrainian defenders of Mariupol were evacuated from the territory of "Azovstal" in May after months of heroic defence.The General Staff explained that the "Mariupol" garrison had fulfilled its combat mission and the commanders had received an order to save the lives of the soldiers.More than 2,500 defenders ended up in captivity in the temporarily occupied territory.On June 29, as part of an exchange, Ukraine brought back 144 prisoners, 95 of whom were defenders of "Azovstal".
