UOC-MP

On December 15, during the Unification Council, Orthodox bishops announced the unification of the Ukrainian churches into a Single Local Independent Church. Its official name is the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

Metropolitan Epiphanius of Pereiaslav and Bila Tserkva became the primate of the OCU.

St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kyiv will become the cathedral of the OCU.

After the creation of the OCU, parishes of UOC-MP churches began to transfer to its jurisdiction. Ukraine also approved a law according to which the UOC-MP must rename itself the Russian Orthodox Church within 3 months.
