US Open

The US Open tennis championship is the fourth and final tennis tournament of the Grand Slam series. It is usually held annually in August and September over two weeks. The main tournament consists of five events: men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Since 1978, the tournament has been held on an acrylic hard surface at the USTA National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, located in the New York borough of Queens. The US Open differs from other Grand Slam tournaments in having tiebreaks in deciding sets.In 2006, the US Open became the first Grand Slam tournament to introduce into its rules permission for television replays at the request of players. As soon as an official challenge is made, it is shown simultaneously to the players, the umpires and the audience (both in the stadium and on TV). The system is 100% accurate to within 5 millimeters.Tennis players call this tournament the "Stress Open" because of how it drains strength and nerves.
