Internally Displaced Persons
- 13 October
Internally displaced persons are people who are forced to flee their homes suddenly and in large numbers as a result of armed conflict or internal strife.
Displaced persons of the Russian-Ukrainian war are a category of citizens who were forced to leave their homes to avoid the negative consequences of the armed conflict in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine or the occupation of Crimea.
According to a survey by the International Organization for Migration conducted in March 2019, 23% of IDPs intend to return home after the end of the war, 18% said maybe, and another 34% said they do not intend to return. 51% of IDPs still have relatives in the occupied territories.
