Narendra Modi

Narendra Modi – Prime Minister of India since May 2014, leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

He has won elections three times – in 2014, 2019 and 2024. He is a rather controversial figure, both in his own country and in the world.

Before coming to power, he promised to transform the country. He carried out economic reforms and also revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, which led to unrest in which casualties among Muslims were reported.

Narendra Modi paid a visit to Ukraine in August 2024. At that time, he stated that India was ready to make its proactive contribution to efforts to achieve peace. However, since 2022 he has not condemned Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine and has not placed responsibility for it on Moscow.

In July 2024, in Russia, he met with Putin and called him a "good friend", but he did not come to the May 9, 2025, parade.

As for the conflict between India and Pakistan, during the election campaign he promised to be tough on Islamabad. Narendra Modi called Pakistan an "exporter of terrorism".

After the situation escalated in May 2025, India and Pakistan agreed on a ceasefire.

In short, Narendra Modi positions his foreign policy as multi-vector, while he builds his domestic policy on nationalism.
