The Bombing of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant

On the night of June 6, 2023, the occupiers blew up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. This threatens flooding of many districts in southern Ukraine.

The HPP is located in southern Ukraine, 5 kilometers from the city of Nova Kakhovka in the Kherson region. The station provides annual regulation of the Dnipro flow for electricity supply, irrigation and water supply of the arid regions of southern Ukraine, and navigation from Kherson to Zaporizhzhia.

In the first days of the full-scale Russian aggression in February 2022, the occupiers seized the North Crimean Canal and the Kakhovka HPP.
