The Explosions on the Nord Stream Pipelines
On September 26, 2022, the companies Nord Stream AG and Nord Stream 2 AG reported that an accident had occurred. As a result, the pressure dropped significantly in the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, through which Russia transports gas to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The Danish Maritime Authority noted that three leaks had been recorded on the pipelines. One of them is in Swedish waters, and the other two are in Danish waters. Germany began an investigation into the accident. It is assumed that this is sabotage by the Russians themselves.
German media wrote that their law enforcement officers believe that Ukrainian citizens were involved in the explosion. In particular, Germany issued 6 arrest warrants.
At the same time, in October 2025, Poland refused to extradite to Germany a Ukrainian suspected of blowing up the Nord Streams. Italy extradited to Berlin Ukrainian Serhii Kuznietsov, who is suspected of the explosion. He denies the charges.
