The Scandal Involving the Summer Theater in Odessa
On the morning of April 12, 2019, private security guards, "titushky" and builders broke into the territory of the Summer Theater and began construction and demolition work.
This is taking place under the cover of the supposed implementation of a landscaping project by former KVN player Dmytro Shpynarov, who was granted permission for this in a closed session by the executive committee of the Odesa City Council on March 28.
According to public figures, they want to build an 8-story shopping center behind the screen of the project.
On April 13, a mass protest against the construction took place.
On April 14, access to the territory of the public space was restricted, and activists report threats against them.
On April 19, the Ministry of Culture declared the development of the Summer Theater in Odesa illegal.
