The sunken tanker Delfi

The Moldovan-flagged vessel Delfi ran aground and capsized back in November last year due to a storm.

Until April 1, 2020, the tanker's owner had the right to remove it from the accident site on his own, but did not do so.

On June 21, fuel leaked from the tanker, causing water pollution. This outraged Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and he was promised that the tanker would be removed by July 25.

But the attempt failed because of poor-quality cables. At the same time, Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklii said that the operation to raise the vessel would now come under the control of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
