Zmiinyi Island
Zmiinyi Island (Snake Island) is a small island in the Black Sea that belongs to Ukraine and defines the state's territorial water borders. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Zmiinyi has been occupied by Russian militants, who took Ukrainian border guards prisoner. It was on Zmiinyi Island that the legendary phrase was born that symbolises Ukrainian resistance and resilience – "Russian warship, go f*ck yourself".Now the Russians are suffering colossal losses from the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the island, but are not leaving Zmiinyi. Recently, it was near Zmiinyi that the cruiser "Moskva", one of the flagships of the Russian fleet, sank after a strike by the Ukrainian military.
