Denys Shmyhal has been First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy of Ukraine since January 14, 2026. He worked in the Cabinet of Yuliia Svyrydenko and continued working in the government of Serhii Koretskyi.
The post of Minister of Energy was offered to Shmyhal by Volodymyr Zelenskyy on January 3, 2026.

From July 17, 2025, to January 13, 2026, Denys Shmyhal headed the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Shmyhal was Prime Minister of Ukraine from March 4, 2020, to July 16, 2025. He headed the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for the longest time in the history of Ukraine's independence.
