Dmytro Valeriyovych Lubinets has been the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights since July 1, 2022.
The Ombudsman of Ukraine uses legal means to try to protect:
- personal rights and freedoms,
- civil and political rights,
- the rights of the child,
- economic, social and cultural rights,
- the rights of civilians who suffered as a result of Russia's war against Ukraine,
- the rights of servicemen, police officers, pensioners discharged from military service, veterans and their family members,
- the right not to be subjected to torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
The official also deals with international cooperation.
