Gontareva's Resignation
On April 3, the deputy head of the "Petro Poroshenko Bloc" faction in parliament, Iryna Lutsenko, said that NBU Governor Valeria Gontareva had submitted her resignation. She had supposedly already completed "the front of work she had taken on".
The NBU press service denied this information. "The press service does not confirm the information about the resignation of NBU Governor Valeria Gontareva. As you know, the NBU traditionally announces upcoming changes in the composition of the Board a month in advance. At present, all members of the NBU Board are working according to plan and have a busy schedule", – the NBU said.
Gontareva herself has recently stated in comments that she has fully completed her task and wants to rest.
On April 10, 2017, at a press conference, Gontareva announced her resignation effective May 10 of the same year.
Gontareva had served as NBU Governor since June 19, 2014.
