
Kurds
The Kurds are the world's largest people without their own state. There are approximately 25–35 million Kurds. They live in the Middle East, primarily in Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Syria and Armenia.
Within Iraq there is Iraqi Kurdistan, a Kurdish state entity that emerged in 1991 under a UN mandate. The Kurds have been fighting for their independence for decades.
