A terrorist attack is a criminal act by a person or group of persons against civilians or the state. Such attacks lead to the death or injury of people and are intended to influence the authorities or stage a provocation. 

The September 11 attacks of 2001 in the USA were horrific, when two planes crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York. 

Russia committed the terrorist attack in Olenivka on July 29, 2022, in order to kill Ukrainian servicemen who were being held captive.
