Wagner Group

The Wagner PMC is a Russian armed formation, a private military company, and in fact an international criminal and terrorist organization. 

The Wagner PMC was created in 2014 by the so-called "Putin's chef", a businessman who supplied food and catered for the Kremlin, Yevgeny Prigozhin. 

It was the Wagner fighters who laid down their lives to occupy the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut. However, amid the operation in Bakhmut, Prigozhin accused the Russian Ministry of Defense of shelling Wagner fighters and complained of insufficient weapons supplies. 

Prigozhin started a mutiny and a march on Moscow. However, after negotiations with Lukashenko, Prigozhin backed down, and later his plane crashed. On August 23, 2023, Russia stated that Prigozhin had died. 

Since then, the Wagner PMC has been subordinate to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
