A TPP is a thermal power plant that generates electricity by burning fossil fuels.
Ukraine's TPPs produced a lot of electricity, but since the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine they have constantly suffered from Russian shelling.
Russia has attacked Trypilska TPP, Burshtynska TPP, Dobrotvirska TPP, Sloviansk TPP, as well as Zmiivska, Prydniprovska and Kryvorizka TPPs, among others.
Despite the shelling, Ukraine is trying to protect and repair the power plants so that the TPPs keep generating power.
