ATO
The ATO is the Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine, which began on April 13, 2014.
The decision to launch it was made by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) after the occupation of Crimea and because of the war in Donbas, which Russia started. The ATO lasted until 2018.
On March 18, 2018, then-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced the legal completion of the Anti-Terrorist Operation. On March 30, 2018, the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) began. Serhii Naiev became the JFO commander.
