Trump's Son-in-Law Again Called for No Strikes on Russian Oil Refineries, According to Axios

During talks in Oslo on Tuesday, October 20, Jared Kushner once again called on Ukraine to stop striking Russian oil refineries. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he was willing to do so on one condition.

Moscow must stop targeting Ukraine’s energy sector, according to Axios.

What is known about the U.S. demands?

Jared Kushner joined the talks remotely and insisted on Donald Trump’s demand not to strike Russian oil refineries. According to a source familiar with the matter, the U.S. president’s son-in-law was extremely forthright during the dialogue. At the same time, he is not particularly concerned about the aggressor country’s daily strikes against Ukraine’s civilian population and energy infrastructure.

Washington is counting on the Kremlin’s willingness to compromise after Donald Trump agreed to lift restrictions on the sale of Russian diesel fuel and took other steps approved by Moscow. An anonymous U.S. official reported that the Ukrainian delegation presented its own new ideas, which were discussed in detail during the meeting. The parties made significant progress and achieved a high level of coordination at the working level regarding further joint actions.

It should be noted that Steve Witkoff, the head of the U.S. delegation in Norway, plans to hold a direct meeting with Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, October 21, following consultations with European partners. He will share the ideas and proposals discussed by the Americans and Europeans at the meeting in Oslo. The U.S. presidential representative will also discuss the possibility of a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia.

Earlier, the White House had already requested a stop to attacks on the aggressor country's oil refineries. Officials in Washington explained this by saying that Trump’s diesel deal with Putin could allegedly bring Moscow back to the negotiating table.
