Anyone who wishes to leave Oleshky will be able to do so: Lubinets provided an update on the humanitarian mission
A humanitarian mission is underway in the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region, for which a ceasefire has been agreed upon. It has become clear whether the parties are adhering to the agreements and under what conditions local residents will be able to leave the town.
This was announced by Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada’s Commissioner for Human Rights.
Will residents of Oleshky be able to leave for territory controlled by Ukraine?
According to Lubinets, all residents of the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky who wish to leave for territory controlled by Ukraine will have that opportunity.
Prior to this, as part of a humanitarian mission, the road must be cleared of mines and necessary supplies delivered. Once these tasks are completed, representatives from three countries will remain on site.
Anyone who wants to leave for Ukraine will be able to do so. Everyone who needs our help will receive it,
the ombudsman assured.
At the same time, Lubinets did not specify exactly when the evacuation of civilians would begin.
Are the parties adhering to the ceasefire?
The ombudsman reported that since the ceasefire took effect in Oleshky, not a single violation of the agreements has been recorded.
According to him, the Russian side has also not attempted to advance. Lubinets noted that he is in constant contact with Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova.
Efforts to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Oleshky have been ongoing since late February 2026. However, according to the Ombudsman, significant progress was only achieved in September thanks to the involvement of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump.
Lubinets also emphasized that the U.S. side is monitoring the fulfillment of the commitments made by the parties to the agreements.
How long will the ceasefire in Oleshky last?
Earlier, Dmytro Lubinets announced the implementation of a ceasefire in Oleshky to carry out a humanitarian mission. The agreements took effect on October 27 at 3:00 a.m. Kyiv time and are set to remain in effect until 10:59 p.m. on November 1.
The ceasefire applies to specific areas related to the humanitarian mission, not the entire front line.
Thus, the agreements are intended to create conditions for the delivery of aid, demining, and the voluntary departure of civilians from the occupied city.
