"To destroy ballistic missile launchers," Zelenskyy revealed Ukraine's request to the US regarding Starlink
Ukraine appealed to SpaceX and U.S. President Donald Trump to grant access to Starlink within Russian territory. This step was necessary for the military to destroy the facilities from which the enemy launches ballistic missiles.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement in an interview with NBC News.
The U.S. did not grant Ukraine access
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine has consistently been barred from using this satellite network over Russian territory. He clarified that the purpose of the request was to neutralize the threat of ballistic missile strikes against Ukraine.
“We asked SpaceX and President Trump to grant us access to Starlink on Russian territory so that we could destroy Russian ballistic missile launchers. But here’s the thing: that access has always been denied to us,”
– said the President of Ukraine.
In addition, the Armed Forces also faced restrictions on their own territory. According to Zelenskyy, the speed limit for Starshield’s operation was a deliberate decision by the Americans.
Earlier, the Ukrainian leader said that malfunctions and slowdowns in the operation of the Starlink and Starshield systems could have occurred due to a direct order by the U.S. government, which was technically implemented by SpaceX. According to Zelenskyy, specific officials in Washington are behind these restrictions, although it is not known exactly who they are.
