The humanitarian mission in Oleshky continues: a journalist reported on how many people live there

On October 27, a humanitarian mission to rescue people began in the area of the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky. A bilateral ceasefire was declared there. People will be able to evacuate safely from the area.

Yevheniia Virlich, a journalist from Kherson, spoke about this on 24 Channel. According to her, there is currently no precise information on how many people live in Oleshky and Hola Prystan. So far, there are only approximate figures. We’re talking about several thousand people.

How many people live in Oleshky and Hola Prystan?

As Virlich emphasized, according to the latest data, about 1,700 people live in Oleshky, including about 50 children. There are approximately 4,000 residents in Hola Prystan and the surrounding communities.

If we include Oleshky, Hola Prystan, and the nearby communities, the total comes to about 6,000 people. But again, these figures are very approximate. The occupiers do not keep records. Ukraine is unable to do so,
Virlich noted.

In addition, residents of Kherson reacted cautiously to the news of the ceasefire, fearing various provocations. However, everything is calm for now. No information is coming in about developments on the left bank.

We’re in the first phase right now. People are figuring out what can be shared and what can’t. Demining is underway and so on. So perhaps it’s for the best that we don’t know anything yet,
Virlich noted.

We should add that reports are currently coming in that all agreements regarding the ceasefire and the humanitarian mission in Oleshky are being honored. It is known that a temporary suspension of hostilities to unblock the city will last until the evening of November 1. In fact, this is the largest de-escalation since 2022.
