Military aid from foreign partners plays a key role in strengthening Ukraine's defence capability and countering Russia's aggression in the full-scale war.
Since the beginning of 2022, the USA and the EU have been providing weapons, ammunition and equipment, as well as conducting training for Ukrainian military personnel.
However, due to political disputes in the USA after Donald Trump came to power, military funding for Ukraine was put at risk in March 2025. But already on March 13, 2025, it became known that the USA had resumed aid to Ukraine.
On July 1, 2025, White House Press Secretary Anna Kelly confirmed the US decision to halt the delivery of certain weapons to Ukraine following a Pentagon review of aid and support for other countries.
The State Department explained that the USA is not stopping military aid to Ukraine, but only changing certain deliveries while maintaining other support options.
Donald Trump said on July 8, 2025, that the United States must send more weapons to Ukraine, primarily defensive ones.
